Here's a quick comparison between the current 150 series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado specifications and the latest Subaru Tribeca. Although the two are aimed at different parts of the market we thought it would be an interesting comparison.

The Subaru Tribeca has been around for a few years now and is probably a competitor to the Toyota Kulger, Lexus RX, Honda MDX class. The initial release in 2005 had a controversial front end design which made it a poor seller. I did not think it was that bad... The model like the Imprezza was supposed to be shared with Saab but of course it never happened and following the GFC it has been sold off from GM.

Subaru Tribeca
VS
150 Toyota LandCruiser Prado

The Tribeca like the Outback is a great package and the engine as in the related Subaru Outback, is a standout along with the interior design. I have not driven one yet and don't expect to because very few dealers have them - why?

The interior of the Tribeca - that we've seen is a blend of early 2000's quality materials and looks and feels integrated. It is not  quite Lexus RX and slight less than Kluger but overall it is good for a Subaru. The interior design is inspired and I think it looks like the interior of the Star Trek Next Generation Enterprise of the 1990's. Nonetheless Subaru's use of older materials is just not acceptable when compared to the cheaper and better Kia Sportage as an example.

The main thing that would prevent us from considering getting one is the the exterior design is just a 'nothing' which also describes the exterior - you could walk past it in a car park and not even know it was there.
