Prado 3 door Vs Pajero 3 door
Last Updated: 03 August 2010

Here's some details of the 150 series Land Cruiser 3 door short wheelbase (SWB).  The model code is KDJ150R.  The 3 door version of the Land Cruiser is only available in some parts of the world.  Specifications I've listed here are for the initial release 2010 model year.

Interesting to note that the 3 door has a 3000kg towing rating compared to 2500kg for the 5 door.  Furthermore they come in the 4 cylinder petrol or the turbo diesel.  The 6 cylinder version at this moment appears to be unavailable anywhere.

If it did come in V6 petrol option I can predict it would be the choice option. After all it would quite a fast 4WD. However since the majority of Prado's are diesel I suspect this was a statistically based decision.

Have a read of my first impressions and 1st drive report for more details on what I think about the new model.  The news page contains the pricing details. The drive report is only for the 5 door version though.

There are few competitors in this class of vehicle only and notably the Mitsubishi Pajero 3 door short wheelbase.  That said it is not surprising that there aren't many to choose from since they are relatively expensive compared to the 5 door versions.

Strangely too the 3 door SWB Pajero has been discontinued in Australia (2010) so Toyota releasing the 3 door SWB Prado is rather strange.  The 3 door version came in two variants the R and X. The X having more equipment including a sun roof.
