Toyota Hilux Vs Mazda BT-50 and Ford Ranger |

120 Series |
Here's a quick comparison between the current Hilux and the latest Mazda BT-50 and its twin the Ford Ranger. The Mazda BT-50 and Ford Ranger are interesting utes. First impressions are good because it once you're in it didn't feel like a pickup. It could be a early 2000 model regular sedan like the old Mazda 323 before they changed the name to 3. There are not many buttons to play with but at least it felt nicer to be in than the rest. Reused parts like the air vents and controls are worthy inclusions. I did like Mazda's more conservative shape but the latest Ford Ranger enhancements would probably be my choice if I did get one. The only things that count against it are the thin doors and smaller interior - or so it seemed. The engine is state of the art for 2010 and on paper produces as much if not more power and torque than the competing models. |
Clearly Mitsubishi takes design risks and the Triton L200 is no exception. The design is amazing, exterior wise it looks like a concept car! Overall we like it - modern and looks cool. The key selling point on some models was that the Triton can be used as an AWD or rear wheel drive on normal roads. Not many pickup class vehicles have this capability. Compared to the Hilux the Triton's ride was similarly stiff but I though almost had a sporty edge? Handling was secure and less body roll. Interior noise wise the Triton was probably the same. The interior also felt smaller and the rear passengers sat noticeably higher than then rest. The interior despite the thin seats felt like a nice place to be due to better materials in obvious locations. Additional equipment like the terrain computer impresses. As for its competitors stay tuned for some more
comparisons over the next few months. Our leader board reads
like this: Note that you should always check with your local
dealer for correct and up to date specifications and pricing. |
