Toyota Prado Vs Toyota Kluger |

I put this page up so that you can compare the Landcruiser Prado to the Toyota Kulger or Highlander in the US. Sure the Kluger is another Toyota but you only need to see both to realize they could be competitors and hence many who would consider a Prado will inevitably look at a Kluger as well. However both vehicles are very different in construction and mechanical specifications. The Kluger can be purchased a 2WD (front) or the AWD version. Furthermore in many parts of the world the Kluger is available as a 4 cylinder engine which the Prado has too. Interestingly the 4 cylinder Prado uses the same 4cylinder engine as the Kluger in other parts of the world. Both vehicles are very similar in size but the interior packaging in the Kluger is much more car like. Despite the actual measurements the Kluger feels cramped in comparison. The Kluger is clearly a city based SUV rather than
a true off road one. It uses a 'less robust' monocoque but no doubt
strengthened by extra steel hence the heavy weight. I guess that
balances it out? |
So if you want off-road capability the Prado is the pick whilst if you you spend most of your time on road than the Kluger is the pick. That said the Kluger does not handle as well a decent station wagon. However it is smooth and very quiet to drive, like Prado but without proper off-road abilities. It's exterior design is up to date and at the same time conservative and will appeal to most. Infinitely better than the original model. The interior likewise looks well put together and looks like they'll last. It's not European luxury car quality but it's not that bad either. Of note is that all models have the full range of air bags and other safety equipment. Lots of equipment on most of the range but the top range model doesn't have much more for the extra money. Also considering the Kluger is at least 5 years newer design than the Prado it does not show. Note that specifications will change according to
the trim models available and additional or less accessories. You
should check the official Toyota website for your country for the
most up to date information. |
