This is the (Bombardier Recreational
Products) BRP Can-Am Spyder. This is not really a concept since it is
currently available in various parts of The US, Canada and Europe as a road
registrable vehicle! BRP makes the well known Sea-Doo jet skies and
snowmobiles. The Bombardier brand extends to aircraft, trains, real
estate and they also own the ROTAX engine company. They seem to get
into market niches with little competition or no other company wants to get
into! That said the first ever
Spyder was finished on 16th September 2007 and was delivered to Jay Leno,
yes the US TV personality. BRP says that it will take 2-3 years to
release it to the rest of the world. For Australia planned local
release in January 2008. Like so many concept like vehicles lets hope
it does nake it.
It will not be the fastest motorcycle on
the road but it won't bet slow either! I am concerned about the
quality of driving/riding aids. I hope you can turn some of it off...
Apart from that I love it - sure it defeats all the benefits of
manoeuvrability in traffic and parking of a normal motorcycle but this thing
is fun. It's different and should be encouraged!
